140 members of the academic staff at the Ghent University and 230 members funded through various research grants, ensure the research potential of the faculty. The research is carried out in different laboratories housed in 14 departments located in Ghent, Melle and Gontrode. The research areas are concerned with the production and processing of living matter, with a view to producing healthy, safe and long-term products. Consideration of the environment and society is paramount; the key words of our research here at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering being: environment, food, chemistry, (bio) technology, natural resources and agriculture.

GEOBIA 2010 is an international conference focussing on GEOgraphic object-Based Image Analysis. Within this central theme GEOBIA 2010 covers three key topics:

GEOBIA 2010 brings together scientists and practitioners from all over the world to present and discuss new developments in GEOgraphic Object-Based Image Analysis.

GEOBIA 2010 is organized by FORSIT (FBW, UGent) in collaboration with Utrecht University, ITC and ISPRS and takes place at the Faculty of Bio-science Engineering. Next to almost 170 presentations covering a wide range of topics all related to GEOBIA, hands-on workshops are offered and a social program is planned on three beautiful locations in Ghent.
